For Ars Electronica 2018, « Error – The Art of Imperfection », ArtJaws invested the gallery spaces of the festival with a « carte blanche » to Asian media artists, presenting artworks and artists issued from the curated collection by Dooeun Choi guest curator.
« Over the Air » by Teamvoid & Youngkak Cho (KR), two industrial robot arms Kuka reconstructing data by drawing with a single pen to reflect the correlation between future industries and environmental pollution arising. Minha Yang, « Running Women » is an artwork made of numerous motion vectors that are generated by mathematical and physical algorithms. The moving image was taken by a high-speed camera and transformed into 129,600 vectors. These vectors are capable of controlling 2 million lines containing characteristic color values of rasterized moving images to produce exquisite visual art video artworks. « She » by Kim Joon (KR), three of the augmented reality series of artworks, where bodies are fragmented and distorted. A hybrid form creating uncanny and uncomfortable balancing acts by crashing the real vs. fake, old vs. new. « Dual kisses » by Exonemo, two LCD monitors hanged from a ceiling, displaying faces of various people on the screen, and placed as people on the screen do kissing. The work questions the relationship between emotional feeling and information devices.

Variation – Media Art Fair is the only French contemporary art fair dedicated to new media artists, initiated by Anne-Cécile Worms and Vanessa Quang (gallerist & Show-Off co-founder).

This exhibition showcased the French and international digital contemporary art scene, featuring landmark artists, both established and emerging. In four editions, the exhibition welcomed more than 50,000 visitors, invited 180 international artists and exhibited 450 artworks in the field of new media arts.

The latest edition also presented two rooms dedicated to art & technology history, revisiting the decisive trends of the late 1960s: ”9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering ” (New York 1966) and the Art and Technology Program at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, co-produced with the Némo International Digital Arts Biennial collaborating with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

For its t beta-launch, ARTJAWS.COM first’s exhibition brought together two essential chapters of contemporary art: digital art and outsider pop art with guest curators Anne & Julien, founders of the HEY! Modern art & Pop culture magazine specialized in outsider pop art.
