In 2013 the city of Enghien-les-Bains was designated as a “creative city” by UNESCO. The city is recognized for her expertise in the field of new media arts as well as Tel Aviv (Israel), Dakar (Senegal), Gwangju (South Korea), Sapporo (Japan), Linz (Austria), York , Austin (Texas) and Lyon (France), integrated into this same cluster.
This new collective exhibition “Data City” at Centre des Arts d’Enghien-les-Bains describes with relevance the main challenges of the creative city of tomorrow. Through the buzz of this international network, the exhibition highlights the importance of using digital data on urban development. Starting from what shapes each person’s identity, history, heritage, development and projects, each partner proposes the work of one or more artists capable of confronting the DNA of each place with the digital question. The exhibition will feature more than 10 artists including Bright White, Sin Do-Won, Norimichi Hirakawa, Adrien M & Claire B, Verena Mayrhofer, Officina Mamiwata, Anne Roquigny, Ran Slavin and Studiomodo. Miguel Chevalier will also present his work.
The city as a common denominator will become the support of imaginary cartographies, which it is possible to consider other landscapes and new uses. A statement that highlights different possibilities, virtualities or imaginary artefacts within alternative worlds.
ArtJaws will announce in the next few days a new collection curated by Emmanuel Cuisinier, curator, head of exhibitions and the publishing center of the Arts Center of Enghien-les-Bains.
