After a resounding success at the Musée du Quai du Branly in Paris with over 700,000 visitors (May 6, 2014 – Oct. 18, 2015), the exhibition Tatoueurs Tatoués, created by Anne et Julien (HEY!), was brilliantly exported across the Atlantic to Toronto.
This exhibition runs from April 2 to Sept. 5. at the Royal Museum of Toronto (ROM). “This exhibition will allow visitors to explore the ancient origins of tattooing […] and the cultural exchanges that have made tattooing a vibrant art form and the global phenomenon that we see today,” Chris Darling added, the museum’s senior curator of entomology and co-curator of the exhibition.
From Paris to Toronto, the exhibition explores the 5000-year-old multifaceted world of tattooing, showcasing a visual history of body art and markings, ancient tools, and commissioned tattooed silicone body reproductions, inked by some of the most respected tattoo artists in the contemporary world.
