After Videonale.16 on Tour presentation at the Athens Digital Arts Festival (May 18-21 2017), ArtVilnius’17 invites for the second time Videonale.16 in Vilnius, Lithuania. ArtVilnius’17 will host us at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO from June 8-11 2017 with an exhibition of 13 works of the Videonale.16 selection.
The following artists will be presented at ArtVilnius’17: Cooper Battersby & Emily Vey Duke, Jasmin Bigler & Nicole Weibel, Yao Cong, Teboho Edkins, Lotte Meret Effinger, Max Grau, Shadi Harouni, Randa Maroufi, Stefan Panhans, Lucy Pawlak, Stefan Ramírez Perez, Julia Scher, Anna Vasof
ArtVilnius’17 will introduce 55 galleries, 200 artists from 20 countries (ranging from Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, and Lithuania to Belarus, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, and France), and exceptional collections featuring artworks by world-class artists. Alongside the main program, where galleries will showcase the best of their offerings, ArtVilnius is organizing a special project zone and many additional events. Video art will be in focus at this year’s fair. A collection of works from one of Europe’s oldest video art festivals, Videonale, is to be brought from Bonn, Germany.
The artist Yao Cong presents his work “Under Blue”. The latter explores gender politics through beauty, pleasure, disgust, danger, violence, eroticism, artifice, brush dance and the movement of the camera, transmitting to the viewer a sense of worried voyeurism. Stefan Ramirez Perez offers with his work a series of profiles of aspiring and former actresses based in Los Angeles. The four women speak lightly of their daily concerns and problems, as well as their anxieties about the future.
